When will smartphones be intelligent? Many tech businesses these days are investing heavily in developing artificial intelligence, and with good reason. Artificial intelligence can potentially evolve much more quickly than human intelligence and therefore find solutions to problems much more efficiently. We’re not quite there yet though. In fact it may be a few decades before we get any artificial intelligent constructs that can match the general intelligence of humans… well, some humans. Right now we’ve got some basic constructs performing narrow intelligence tasks. Which is to say, they can solve very specific problems. If/Then Rules For most of the age of computers, calculations were solved using rules that were pre-programmed into the computer. We started with basic math, then moved up from there. Even today smartphone graphic user interfaces are still hand coded around rules. “If user taps this button, then do this.” Th...
The concept of full screen smartphones has been quite popular for several years. During the past 5-6 years, we saw various forms of notch screen, lifting front camera, water drop screen, and hole-punch screen. However, to achieve a true full-screen effect with no addition structures and notches, there is only one way – under-screen camera. Xiaomi vs ZTE Recently, Xiaomi and ZTE have had a war of words around the under-screen camera technology. ZTE officially released the Axon 20 5G on September 1. It is known as the world’s first commercial under-screen camera phone. And though Xiaomi hasn’t announced a similar phone yet, it released the so-called ‘third-generation under-screen camera technology’ on August 28. Mass production of this technology will have to wait until next year. ZTE Axon 20 5G In fact, the first-tier China-based manufacturers have been preparing for under-screen camera technology for a long time. Although many products using lift camera technolo...
Qualcomm might have allowed Xiaomi to leak its new Snapdragon 768G 5G SoC even before launch. Earlier, a new K30 5G Speed Edition with the SoC, got listed on JD.com. While many thought it could be a typo, a tipster has recently posted the specifications of the SoC on twitter and it looks like the SoC is already commercially ready now. Going into the details, a tipster named @xianjingmaoxian has posted the specifications of the SoC on twitter. The new Snapdragon 768G SoC has 5G support like the 765G that launched a few months back. It is shown as an Octa-core CPU with similar cluster arrangement as the 765G, but with different clock speeds. The Snapdragon 768G seems to have two High-performance cores clocked at 2.8GHz and 2.4GHz, while the power-efficient Cluster made up of six cores are clocked at 1.8GHz. This makes us believe that the same Cortex-A76 arrangement found on the 765G, is likely to be on the new SoC as well. On the GPU side of things, it is supposed to have th...
